Caterham Repairs

DPR motorsport has a unique capability to provide a one-stop repair service for accident damaged Caterhams.  On site we can perform repairs making use of the fabrication skills of classic car restorer Chris Eva.  We can return the car to "As New" specification  using our quality paint shop and championship-winning repair and set-up facilities.

We offer a total service for accident damaged cars.  Where part of the repair requires work by Caterham, e.g. long front chassis replacement, we will liaise with Caterham including managing the delivery/collection requirements.  If an insurance company is involved we will work directly with their motor engineer and provide the required photographs and estimate as part of our own repair offering.  Our painting is performed by a local Mercedes approved  repair company who have complete familiarity with the specialist needs of Caterham owners.

Where work is required to be performed by by Caterham or Arch we will include all of these aspects within our repair service including collection and delivery using our fully enclosed race shuttle.  Based in Surrey we offer a unique repair option for Caterham owners based near near London and points South.

Replacing the rear panel

Replacing the rear panel requires true craft skills. The new panel has the required shape but, as supplied by Caterham, is completely flat. This flat panel needs careful fabrication to ensure that the curves are correct and the panel is correctly folded over the top and bottom of the new basket.

Chris Eva uses "cold working" to obtain the required fit on the basket so that the rear panel becomes tight, almost like a drum.  Aluminium  welding is required to join the new panel on to the chassis side skin

Before the top coat, the rear panel is etch primed and has a primer filler coat to ensure a perfect surface. 

 

The finished result

The final result with the rear of the car restored to "As New" with the final top coat in Porsche Viper Green.
