Caterham Supersport Silverstone International:  Fox steps-up to the Supersport podium

Wesley Fox, fresh from his 2011 Roadsport championship win,  stepped-up to the Caterham Supersport round at the new Silverstone International circuit.  Driving the DPR motorsport  Arrive & Drive Supersport, Fox gained 1st and 3rd in a stunning Supersport debut.

DPR Congratulations go to Wesley Fox

The Caterham Supersport championship is the current top step for the Ford Sigma engined championships and the racing at the top of this highly competitive field is both fast and furious.   By way of contrast Wesley Fox entered this fray with a year less experience than most of the competition and driving the DPR Motorsport Arrive & Drive hire car for the first time.

The Saturday qualifier provided a portent as to how the day would unfold with Fox coming  second (0.227 seconds behind) to the pole set by Reece Somerfield (1.17.789).  However due to the importance of slipstreaming, it had become clear that race craft would be equally important as outright speed.  Race one demonstrated the importance of tactics with the usual members of the leading group, now including Fox, swapping places throughout the race.  Fox held his nerve and in the crucial closing stages managed a pass up to the front that earned him the chequered flag.  Fox was followed closely across the line by Ben Whibley just 0.124 seconds behind.  Race two followed a similar pattern but this time it was Ben Whibley who was first across the line followed by Reece Somerfield 0.197 second behind and Fox in third, all of 0.102 seconds behind Somerfield.

David Rowe said "This was an awesome result by Wesley.  The Supersport grid is the 'Best of the Best' in terms of the Sigma engined grids.  Whilst our Arrive & Drive Supersport is prepared to our usual standards this was the first time that Wesley has driven a car in Supersport specification.   Bearing in mind the quality of the competition, getting 1st & 3rd in his debut race day shows that Wesley has a natural flair for racing.

We also had good results with our other Supersport customers with Ben Whibley (fresh from a DPR setup) getting 2nd & 1st, Jeremy Webb (5th & 6th) and Albert Vella (11th & 10th)."
