Caterham Academy - DPR motorsport services
The Caterham Academy is designed to help complete novice drivers get to grips with motorsport. For both Caterham Academy and also for the next step up the motorsport ladder team support is not allowed at the race meetings. However as a Caterham approved motorsport team we can help with all other aspects that on the technical side includes servicing, set-ups and, if required, a one stop service for accident repairs. Recognising that gaining race craft is an all important pre-requisite we can also help with driver coaching and the use of video and data to gain the most from on-track time.
Total service for time limited customers
Making use of our fully enclosed race shuttle we offer a collection and delivery service throughout areas within and adjacent to the M25. By arrangement we offer early morning/late evening and weekend car arrival/departure at our Surrey-based workshop.
Optimising Car & Driver
For novice drivers the most important aspect is to gain seat time in the car. However, a badly set-up car will limit race performance. Once the car has covered a reasonable number of track miles we recommend our race-readiness service checks and race focused set-up. Provided that the car has had some form of basic initial setup we recommend obtaining a race focused set-up after completion of the initial sprints but just before the start of the circuit races.

Our flat floor Academy set-up includes any platform ring machining to obtain required ride height. Our set-up measures and adjusts (where required) all of the attributes specified below:
Adjusting rear toe and camber requires use of our own DPR designed and manufactured shims. After completion of the set-up we provide you with a personalised set-up sheet to confirm the specific set-up including driver weight together with advice as to the optimum fuel level for race use. |

Note: Critical settings can change with on-track use. We recommend that front ride height is checked prior to race use. Use of the circuit scales is advised to check car weight.

We recommend the Racelogic Video VBOX system as a sound investment that enables drivers to gain the most from driver coaching through providing a video and data record of their time on-track. We can also assist with vinyl wrapping where we work together with a local wrap specialist to ensure a high quality result. For drivers who can not fit into the standard Tillett seat, e.g. are too tall, we are working closely with REAL to provide a resin-bead bespoke seat specifically to fit Caterham race cars. This seat allows the driver to sit close to the floor and have robust support including the important upper body area. For novice drivers we recommend delaying the seat fit until there has been sufficient track use for the optimum seating position to be fully understood. |
